Why Vented FR Coveralls Matter in Summer Heat

Heat stress is statistically one of the top causes of workplace injury on hot industrial shifts — more lost-time incidents than flash fire in many programs, simply because heat is a longer-duration, lower-grade exposure that compounds across a 12-hour shift. So the FR garment that keeps your crew safer from arc flash but hotter all day is not always the safer garment in real terms.

The vent story

Summit Breeze® vented FR coveralls use a patented continuous ventilation panel that runs along the upper back, under the arms, and down the sides. The vents sit behind a layer of FR mesh that opens to the outside air when the worker is moving and closes down when they are standing still.

The result is airflow without ever exposing skin to flame. The garment remains dual-rated CAT 2 — no certification downgrade, no compromise on the spec sheet.

What it means on the job

When non-vented still makes sense

Vented FR is not the right answer everywhere. In environments with high airborne debris, certain chemical exposures, or welding sparks where the vent panel could collect contamination, non-vented inherent FR is the safer pick. We stock both for good reason.

If your crews are on the rig floor, the line, or the tank battery in summer and the heat-stress stack is showing up in your safety reports, vented FR is worth a side-by-side trial. Most program managers who run the trial do not go back.
